Stewart Copeland interview for the Argentinian TV Show El Rayo October 21, 1998
Alfred: Hi Stewart, nice to meet you. Stewart: Nice to meet you. Alfred: You're living here in Los Angeles, right? Stewart: Yes, I'm living here in LA, but I do miss Buenos Aires. Alfred: Do you have a good time in Buenos Aires? Stewart: Well, yes, also in Lobos where I have some friends. Alfred: Because you're into polo, right? Stewart: Yeah, I've some friends who play there. Alfred: You still play polo? Stewart: Ah, not so much anymore. My horses are in England and I live in L.A. so it's complicated. Alfred: You live here in L. A. because you're into the movie bussiness? Stewart: Well, the entertainment bussiness. You know, music and film - it's all happening in L. A. This is the city for it. Alfred: You know there's a lot of fans of The Police still in Buenos Aires? Stewart: Still? Still? Thank you Argentina! Alfred: Do you have good memories of The Police? Stewart: Well, last week Andy, Sting and I talked in the telephone, conference call, just talking and shouting at each other, all of the arguments we ever had. It was very funny, because we're all laughing now. But yes, we remember it all, and it was just like yesterday. Alfred: But there are a lot of people that are waiting or praying for The Police to come back. Is that a possibility or not? Stewart: Well, I don't think we'll make another record, maybe we'll do a concert to save the whales, or the rainforest or something ... a concert to save the polo pony. Alfred: What do you think about (the group) Los Pericos? Stewart: I like The Pericos. They did a song of mine on the Outlandos D'Americas album. It's very interesting to hear these Latin artists, most of whom I've never heard of before, but they're very good artists and the only thing is they don't sing in English so they don't exist on American or English radio; but you hear them and they are fully complete artists, with a lot of depth, and a lot of personality, a lot of carisma. It's almost like discovering new artists, like Gustavo. You listen to the record and they are serious artists but I've never heard of them before. It's like - I feel like discovering some guy who's already sold 10 million albums.
